Mass DistrACTION
America's system of government relies
on its citizens as the ultimate check and balance to its power, and on the
media to provide citizens with objective reporting on trends and events. The Weapons of Mass distrACTION Project's
mission is to safeguard this system by fighting media consolidation and bolstering
independent media sources. The Project mobilizes the talents and resources of the artistic community to raise funds,
educate the public and provide vital links between artists, activists, and voters.
We do this by holding large and small benefit events, by our weekly community film series which features topics related to media concentration and stories "buried" in the mainstream press, and by our wickedly satirical performance arm--the Fear Channel News Team. Past beneficiaries of our efforts have included Eat the State, Reclaim the Media, Art of Resistance, and Pepperspray Productions.
