Rotary Dial Wheels

The Car Phone's wheels are done up as rotary telephone dials.

The circular number pads on the wheels are made of reflective, adhesive-backed road sign material with vinyl applique numbers. The remaining details are hand-painted on the hub caps. An original 1940s Western Electric operator rotary dial decorates the center of the van's steering wheel. Like many of the instruments used in the making of Car Phone, the rotary dial phone is all but obsolete and no longer supported by today's innovative (accounting-wise) telecom firms.
