We left the clock behind, switched off cell phones, and prepared for a weekend of laid-back fun. Spring retreat at Seabeck was here for some 200 UU's from Eastshore and University Churches.

Mindful of the Buddhist directive not to cling to habits, I kept my shutterbugging to a minimum over the weekend (but was that getting attached to doing it sparsely instead of going cold-turkey? Or would going cold-turkey be attachment to extreme measures, a form of overcompensation?) Leaving all notions of monkey-mind back in the industrial haze of Seattle, we approached our clear, sunny weekend on the beautiful, forest-scented Hood Canal.

Since so many accomplished photographers were wearing out their batteries shooting candids and family snaps, I decided to concentrate on the place and the atmosphere of the place.
