Perhaps the most photographed lighthouse in the world,
the beautiful Nubble Light is located on a rocky islet, or nubble, overlooking the mouth
of York Harbor. The lighthouse was built in 1873 in the character of a classic New
England beacon, with its clapboard house, flagpole, and picket fence. Larry
Neilson has photographed this beauty spot repeatedly, capturing its wonderfully
weathered rocks and lonely ambience. He also has created a large collection
of atmospheric photos of Twin Lights, Pemaquid Light, and other sentinels
of the Down East coast.
