The Seattle Space Needle

Hat'n'Boots in SeattleThe Space Needle was built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, and remains the city's chief symbol and a durable tourist attraction. The 620-foot tower features a revolving restaurant and view platform at the top, another restaurant at the lower platform, and new bronze elevators with neon accents which change color as the cars glide up and down. As befits Seattle's principal symbol, the Space Needle appears everywhere in the city's street art. At left we show a hip-hop aerosol version by David Bocker. David is one of the painters who make up Street Smart Art (see Masters of Street Art).
