MONSTER GARAGE SALE:
Flyer & Illustration by Larry Neilson
As Larry tells it: "In order to lure shoppers to the Fremont Art Council's annual garage sale, I dreamed up the concept of a Monster Sale (an excuse to draw a crazy monster and milk it for a few cheap laughs). I added a Yuppie couple to satirize this then-new element of the Fremont mix; we laughed then, but five years later the yups have overrun the neighborhood and priced the artists out. The FAC garage sale supports the Fremont Solstice Parade, a wildly popular local event which attracts some 80 to 100,000 spectators in any given year. The sale raised a record $1,000 the year we used these posters."
This flyer was produced en masse in B&W photocopies on Astrobright orange paper, and in a limited-edition color version on white stock.
