This fabulous hood painting of the Hindu god Krishna
was only one of the religious and silly compositions adorning an aging Subaru
sedan. This fine vehicle also featured a sun/moon ensemble on the roof;
Native American totem orca leaping on one side; Taoist yin-yangs and a frazzled
redhead on a quarter panel; Egyptian and Tibetan motifs on the driver's
side; and Om and Star of David symbols on the trunk lid. You talk about
ecumenical!! Well, Seattle does pride itself on its tolerance . . .
This ambitious vehicle was consigned to the Crusher
and the Auto Afterlife in 1996, having brought
laughter to Seattleites for several years.
