Costumed people smash a tower of TVs with well-aimed bowling balls

A bumper sticker takes on a sinister life of its own! Bowling For Televisions is a fresh feature of TROLLOWEEN, the Halloween night extravaganza sponsored by the Fremont Arts Council. In this utterly decadent ritual, instigated by FAC's own MAQUE DAVIS (shown below, lamenting the destruction), a teetering tower of teevees (some of them actually operational and plugged in) is carefully constructed in the middle of the parking lot. Giant transparencies of sleazoid artwork projected on the surrounding walls invoke a spooky atmosphere. When the parade of Trolloween revelers arrives, and a circle is cleared around the TVs so that the dirty deed may proceed. Then the chosen champions of SteamPunk step forward to demolish the TVs, one by one, with heavy, lethal Bowling Balls.

SMASH!    BASH!    TINKLE!    BLAM!    POP!

In a matter of minutes, it's all over: the supreme symbol of our tech-crazed age lies reduced to smoking rubble! The gloating multitudes move on -- in 1996 it was to hear the Car Horn Orchestra. (Watch for a repeat at Trolloween 2000, featuring old computers instead of TVs!)
