The Lincoln Toe Truck was constructed in 1979 by Ed
Allison. A fiberglas cast of five fat, pink toes was added to the cab of a miniature tow
truck to create this Seattle landmark, which stands at one of the principal entrances to
Interstate 5 from downtown. It serves as the corporate symbol of Lincoln Towing Co. Our
view shows the Toe Truck at Christmas time, when it is being towed by illuminated
reindeer. In the background looms the Space Needle, decked out for
Christmas with strands of lights in a conical "Christmas Tree" configuration on
top of the revolving restaurant.
The Toe Truck was one of the participants in the '99 Seattle
Art Car Blow-Out, an art car parade and expo held at the foot of the Space Needle June
26 and 27 and organized by that nefarious medical renegade, Dr. Schlock
and his spotted sidekick, Leopard Lady.
