The DOG HOUSE Restaurant, an unpretentious 24-hour eatery, was an anchor business in the Denny Regrade from the 1930s until its closing in 1993. This greasy spoon was a staple ingredient in J.A. Jance's atmospheric Seattle mystery novels. The 1937 mural All Roads Lead to the Dog House is a classic of Seattle Kitsch, shown last year at the University of Washington's HENRY ART GALLERY; the neon sign (shown) was rescued by the PUPPY CLUB, another family-style diner in the same neighborhood. Following the demise of the restaurant, the sign was purchased by Seattle's reigning Queen of Kitsch, RUBY MONTANA, who in turn sold it to the new Experience Music Project, a museum being built to honor Jimi Hendrix and other musical pioneers from the Northwest.
