Vivian McPeak is an up-and-coming New Age Renaissance Man. His energy level is intense, enabling him to motivate the Seattle Peace Heathens, a tribal support network which helps young people get by in Seattle and serves as an advocate for homeless youth (see their Crisis Directory web page); the Starlight MountainFestival, a counterculture music and art fair; the Seattle Hemp Fest, which has doubled its attendance every year for the past 5 years, and grown into a sort of mini-Woodstock (see Wild in the Streets); andto lead the rock band STICKERBUSH, recently signed to a 2-CD contract by CM Records.
Viv is seen here at sundown, exhorting the troops at Hempfest '95, a peaceful gathering and civil disobedience event attended by some 65,000 at Myrtle Edwards Park on the Seattle waterfront. The adrenaline was flowing, and that apple in his hand may well have been the only thing Vivian had had to eat since breakfast. Vivian's delightfully understated Hempy, a VW squareback custom painted in swirls of psychedelic color by Larry Steiner, may be seen on the streets of the Roosevelt District. The Dharma Bus, an earlier effort by Steiner, is an official Grateful Dead sticker test vehicle!
