First Ave. Hendrix Mural
By Dan & Mae Hitchcock
The HENDRIX MURAL was painted by Dan and Mae Hitchcock in 1993.* It covered the
facade of a downtown pawn shop -- the same location where Al Hendrix bought Jimi his first
guitar, and himself a saxophone, some 30 years earlier. The site is on First Avenue just
south of the Seattle Art Museum. Ex-Texans Dan and Mae have adorned Seattle walls with
several serenely surreal monochrome designs.
Now making their home in Eugene, Oregon, Dan and Mae have cards of their work
available for the general public. Email us to

The Hendrix mural was painted out just as winter 2000 closed in and the new Millennium began. It
was, after all, so 20th century . . . but Jimi's timeless music will live on so long as there are ears to hear and feet to pat the beat!
