A vintage BMW sedan was transformed by artists' rep Jerry Jaz, using rubber-gloved hand prints in the primary colors. Glass beads glued in each finger and palm print glittered and sparkled as the vehicle rolled through the sunny Seattle afternoons. A plastic saguaro cactus bobbed on the antenna. The tires were painted to simulate square wheels. With its vanity plates spelling out ART REP, the Beamer served as a mobile billboard for Jerry's agency, Jaz'n'Jaz.
Glad Hands was among the Seattle Art Cars which were profiled on KING-5 TV's Evening Magazine in May and August 1998, and again in April '99. One of the finest and funniest of Seattle art cars, it met
its end in a high-speed collision on Interstate 5 in April '99; the car's structural
integrity saved the driver from serious injury, but the car was reduced to a mangled hulk in the
wrecker's yard.
Jerry Jaz was left to contemplate the theme of his next Art Car.
