F E Z by Josh Keller

It all began as a badly oxidized paint job. Science teacher Josh Keller started noodling around with ideas in paint derived from the
geometric patterns in Moroccan architecture and carpets, and before you knew
it . . . WOW! One of the most hypnotic art cars in the Northwest had been
born. Since this picture was taken, authentic Middle Eastern patterns have
been added to hubcaps and rearview mirrors as well. This is quite a pleasing car to drive along with in caravan, as the author knows from experience.
One such jaunt is pictured here: the 3-hour journey to Vancouver, taken in company with Don Ehlen in the Aqua Mobile on a perfect late summer afternoon, for the second edition of the Funky Festival north of the border. The breathtakingly beautiful city of Vancouver provided the backdrop for a weekend of international amity and first-rate hospitality.

Our photos show FEZ at Stanley Park during the September 2001 Funky ArtCar Fest in Vancouver, B.C. Jittery Vancouverites (who, like their Stateside brethren, badly needed something to laugh about only four days after the 9-11 catastrophe) found ample cause to grin as the fun-lovin' Cartists of two nations cavorted on the broad lawns of Vancouver's gracious parks and blew bubbles gaily to the breezes.
