D I S A S T E R     S T R I K E S!
In Photographs by Larry Neilson

Here it is, coming to you (almost) live -- gory, juicy disaster -- blood and broken glass splattered across your computer screen.

Snowstorms - windstorms - car crashes - riots re-created for the Hollywood cameras -- and an election that was a "train wreck" for George W. Bush's Republican party. You'll find them all in Larry's year-end litany of disaster. But you'll find reason to hope too, as in the construction projects seen at the bottom of the page. Construction projects in progress or nearly completed, that will hopefully give us a better quality of life for years to come. Meanwhile, dig in and shiver at the wintry desolation and cold comfort of Larry's Disaster Photo Page -- then
thaw out in the thin light of Northwest December days.

Husky Stadium on the night of the Big Snow of 'Ought-Six

Heavy, wet snow hit just at rush hour. I had plenty of time to shoot this from my car window, stuck in traffic for nearly 4 hrs in what is ordinarily a 40-min. commute.

Collision Damage to Larry's Buddha Car
Or, How I got smashed one night

without touching a drop! Only one
figure popped off, and was retrieved from inside the grille.
A good endorsement for my adhesive of choice!

Engine compartment in Larry's car
Engine compartment: bent radiator support.
Radiator and fan are forced into the engine,
but still functioning & not leaking. I
take that as a sign that she wants to live.

STOP BUSH traffic sign
One of the dozen traffic signs I altered for the election
in the U-District. Nobody has removed the stickers.
May be that the people agree.
