Garry Golightly, Seattle's frantic Bubble Man,
showed off his slick new wheels at the Seattle Art Car Blow-Out June 26-27, 1999. Decoration consisted of irridescrnt stickyback bubble cutouts applied to the factory paint coat of his Toyota van. Attempts to attach ping-pong balls to horizontal surfaces with Elmer's glue-all were less successful. One can't blame him for being squeamish about gluing 3-D objects on with permanent glue, while still owing so much on the vehicle.
Here is Garry parading with the 32 other art cars which participated, accompanied by a giant bubble blowing mandala on top of the van. He can also be seen as the bright purple blob just cresting the hill in our photo of the parade.
SASS is indebted to Bill Smythe for both these excellent photos. Mr. Smythe is a professional photographer who can be reached at (206) 517-5503.
