Rebecca Kilgore, a marvelous jazz vocalist based in Portland, Oregon, is a colleague of Dave Frishberg's -- they held down a regular gig for more than five years at the Heathman Hotel, and subsequently appeared regularly on Thursday nights at Atwater's, both venues in their hometown. Together they released a swinging and soulful CD, Not a Care in the World, on the Arbors label.

Rebecca is seen here booting out the chorus of Mean to Me during a Jazz Cruise on Puget Sound co-sponsored by Starbucks and KPLU-FM in October 1996. By turns huskily intimate and ebulliently swinging, she takes her place among the front ranks of jazz singers today. She plays a nice guitar, too.
