On the Road

Just for fun! Here are a few of Larry Neilson's found-object assemblages, decreasing litter on the streets by bringing it into the art gallery instead. Larry has been creating these complex and dynamic compositions for the last 6 years. He finds working with hands and eyes, in the garden or making art, a good antidote to too many hours spent on the computer. See how many of the elements you can identify!

These works were made by gluing found objects onto plywood, cardboard, mirror, or Homasote panel using a variety of adhesives. Objects are grouped and layered, often being juxtaposed in ironic ways. Materials used were collected at roadside, around construction sites, garages, home and abandoned lots and, in some cases, purchased at flea markets, garage sales, or thrift stores. Not least, many of the choicest bits have been donated by friends. Frequently, the artist's sardonic eye on politics and culture is evident. Sizes range from 11" x 14" (Downward Spiral) to 18" x 47" (American Nightmare).

Assemblages are available by commission, priced from $180 to $1500 USD. See contact information at head of page.
