Here are some of the 36 wild'n'crazy Art Cars which appeared at the   artsEdge Festival, June 25-27, 1999, in Seattle. Our follow-up, Blowout 2000, was held June 17-18 in conjunction with the Fremont Street Fair and proved to be an even bigger and more bodacious event. Since then the Art Car Blowout has remained allied to the Fremont Fair and has become a popular part of Solstice Weekend, surely one of the coolest events on the off-beat Seattle arts calendar, if not the coolest. Twelve years later, the Blowout regularly attracts around 50-60 cars from all over the U.S. and Canada for a ribald weekend of creativity, art appreciation, and good fellowship.

Seattle Art Cars thanks all the dedicated Car Artists who came, and expresses its gratitude to artsEdge for sponsoring the exhibition! Our Webmaster is indebted to Bill Smythe for the use of his photos of the Bubble Van and the Parade. This fine photographic artist can be reached at (206) 517-5503.
